New school starts life in temporary home at Lawley Village
Lawley Village Primary Academy is spending its first term based at Lawley Village Management Centre, prior to its anticipated move into a brand new purpose-built school off Martingale Way in January 2016.
The school initially comprises a reception class of 27 four and five-year-olds, who will have lessons at the management centre until Christmas, with the roll rising to 29 children when the school moves to its new building in January.
Telford & Wrekin Council is funding the expenses of the school's period of residence at the centre, including minor works to allow the school to operate and to reinstate the centre to its original state when it is vacated in December. LVDG is retaining the use of the upper floor of the centre.
Eventually, the school will have capacity for 210 four to 11-year-olds, with numbers increasing every September with each new reception intake.
LVDG, which comprises Barratt Homes, Charles Church, David Wilson Homes, Persimmon Homes and Taylor Wimpey, is providing a total of £3.6 million funding for the Lawley Village Primary Academy, with the first phase of £1 million handed over earlier this year. The consortium has also provided the land for the school.
