New primary school officially opens
The official grand opening of Lawley Village Primary Academy was held on Wednesday 3rd February.
The school, which moved into its new home at the end of last term, currently comprises a single reception class but will eventually have capacity for 210 four to 11-year-olds, with numbers increasing every September with each new reception intake.
Lawley Village Developer Group (LVDG), which comprises Barratt Homes, Charles Church, David Wilson Homes, Persimmon Homes and Taylor Wimpey, has contributed a total of £3.6 million funding for the school as well as providing the land off Martingale Way.
David Wilson, of the LVDG, says: "The opening of the new primary school at Lawley Village is a key milestone in the life of this pioneering new neighbourhood, and we are delighted to see children setting out on their education at this brand new state-of-the-art academy.
"The school will offer a fantastic learning environment for local children now and for generations to come, as well as providing an important focal point for the new community.
"As the school and other facilities take shape at Lawley Village, it's exciting to see the vision for this sustainable development becoming reality."
