Travel! Getting around
Residents of Lawley Village benefit from some excellent transport links, by road and rail.
In 2004 the area was awarded 'Beacon Status' for improving access to public transport. Also, being a new town with a properly-planned transport infrastructure, Telford incurs relatively few traffic problems, when compared to the urban areas of Birmingham or medieval streets of nearby Shrewsbury. Proximity to the M54 reduces through-traffic on local roads, while the A442 Queensway acts as a convenient north-south artery road.
The Primary Infrastructure Work carried out as part of the Lawley Village development encompassed the remodelling of its major access roads. This included the A5223 Lawley Drive, which runs through the centre of the area, and the B5072 West Centre Way, which runs to & from Telford's centre.

To and from Telford by road
Telford is one of the most significant and fastest growing areas in the West Midlands, and the town is well served by some of the region's major routes. These include the M54 motorway, which runs east to create fast, easy links with Wolverhampton, the M6, M6 Toll, Birmingham and the West Midlands.
Heading west, the A5 puts Telford within easy reach of the historic town of Shrewsbury, with the Welsh border just a little further on!
The A442 runs through the town of Telford itself, and provides easy access to Bridgnorth and Kidderminster. Stafford can be reached via a 40-minute journey north-west along the A518.
